Before the glamorous night of Indian Premier League (IPL) opening ceremony for this edition, show-stopper Ranveer Singh revealed his favorite IPL team and players.
When asked about his favorite team, Ranveer took time but finally mentioned Mumbai Indians. The Bollywood heart-throb also mentioned that he loves turning up for matches and enjoys the madness of the game.
Talking about his favorite overseas player, Ranveer mentioned South Africa’s AB de Villiers without taking much time. Among Indian players, it is surely the limited over skipper MS Dhoni for him while Virat Kohli, the dashing Delhi batsman, is also another name Ranveer did not forget to mention.

Ranveer, talking about Mumbai Indians, said, “I am a Mumbai boy, born and raised. So definitely Mumbai Indians. I have a lot of passion for the team and try to catch the matches as well.” He also mentioned his favorite moment from a match he witnessed a few years back. “I guess it was Dwayne Smith.
Mumbai Indians needed 12 runs off 3 balls and the crowd was like ‘This is not going to happen.’ But Smith hit 3 back to back sixes off the three deliveries to take us to victory.”
When pointed that none of his favorite players were from Mumbai Indians, the actor quickly made it up saying, “Isn’t Lendl Simmons playing for us this?” The star seemed especially impressed by Simmons’ skills and might route for him during IPL 2016. Watch the video here:
Ranveer Singh will be the show-stopper in the gala IPL opening ceremony on April 8. He will be seen performing alongside Bollywood divas Jacqueline Fernandez, Katrina Kaif and popular rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh while Chris Brown and famous band Major Lazer will also be seen performing to entertain the crowd.
