Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis stepped into international cricket together. Their ages were same and they both wanted to make a big name for themselves in international cricket. they were lucky that they had a mentor named Imran Khan.
Imran taught them how to bowl fast and taught them the deep dark magic of reverse swing which made these two bowlers one of the lethal most in the world. They both were known as the two Ws.
Both Wasim and Waqar not only had pace but they were also pretty accurate in their line and length. They had this dangerous ability to bowl Yorkers frequently which made them pretty difficult to play in the final overs especially.
In the mid-90s Pakistan went to West Indies and played an ODI series and thanks to the brilliant bowling of Wasim and Waqar, Pakistan was able to draw the series.
In the final and decisive game, West Indies were in a pretty good position with 17 runs needed from the final 11 balls and they had 5 wickets in hand.
Wasim and Waqar had one over left each and Waqar bowled the second last over of the game. Earlier Waqar took the wicket of Haynes who was one of the best batsmen from West Indies. He has trapped lbw by Waqar.
Waqar, as usual, kept the ball right up there in the blockhole. He was bowling Yorkers one after the other and it was getting almost impossible for the batsmen to hit him for some runs. Wasim did the same in his over and eventually the game ended as a tie.
