Shahid Afridi is a massive name and will be remembered for decades and decades to come. The cricketing world will never be the same because today Pakistan’s legendary all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi played his last International game for Pakistan. Afridi had announced prior to the start of the 2016 ICC World T20 that this would be his last tournament for Pakistan. The flamboyant all-rounder hung up his boots from both Test and ODI cricket after Pakistan’s exit in the 2015 World Cup and it looks like the trend is set to continue, as the greens make their way out of the 6th Twenty Twenty World Cup too.
The stakes of Pakistan vs Australia game were always going to be sky high with both teams needing desperate wins after having not made the best starts to their World T20 campaigns. Pakistan won their first game against Bangladesh by a big margin, but then followed up with two heavy defeats at the hands of first arch rivals India and then New Zealand. Both losses seriously dented the hopes of T20 glory in Afridi’s last tournament, with the Pakistanis needing a win in their last game, as well as India losing to Australia later on.
