Sharjeel Khan played one of the best T20 knocks of recent times in Dubai last night. It was the third playoff game between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi and in this crunch game, Sharjeel showed a lot of nerves and commitment.
This was the maiden hundred by any player in PSL and it was certainly not an easy task which Sharjeel performed. Peshawar Zalmi had the best bowling lineup featuring Wahab, Tait, Asghar and Afridi. Sharjeel diffused them all.
He took the spinners most of the time using his feet which enabled him to kill the spin on the ball. Wahab did trouble Sharjeel in the ending overs and in fact Sharjeel got two major chances on two balls against the left arm pacer.
On the final two balls of the 18th over, first Sharjeel hit the ball straight to Shahid Yousuf at covers which were dropped. This ball was hit right from the middle of his big bat and it went with the speed of knots. The impact the ball made to the hands of Shahid was so much that it made him get a twist.
The ball hit the hands and popped up, Shahid did try to get his hands on the ball again but at that point, it was all too late. On the very next ball, Wahab deceived Sharjeel with an excellent slower ball and, this time, it kissed the wicket but the bails did not fell.
It was one of that moment when we see the ball hits the outer part of a wicket gets a slight deviation but the bails did not fall. Same thing happened here. Peshawar Zalmi wicket keeper Kamran Akmal pointed out towards the wicket but he knew it was not out.
