It was not for Pakistan but still the ex-Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mehmood did a Miandad thing to let his county team Surrey catch a last ball win over Gloucestershire in the NatWest T20 blast match. Azhar like his ancestor hit a bog one on the very last ball of the match to seal the deal.
Azhar remained not out on 22 of just 14 balls in which he hit 2 sixes that changed the course of the match especially the last one. Surry required 9 of the last over and Craig though managed to pull things up for the first 5 balls.
Craig bowled some wonderful deliveries and just conceded 3 runs in them. On the very last ball a six was required by Surrey to win this win with Azhar facing and already was beaten all ends up on the previous one which Craig bowled short and Azhar had no idea how to play it.
Craig had this in mind so he tried the same weapon on the last ball as well but as they say lightning doesn’t strike one place twice so did it happened for Craig. Azhar was ready this time and he pulled it from the middle of his bat down to deep square leg for a six.
The credit goes to both the players. Craig bowled a super over except for the last ball and almost took the game away from Surry and as for Azhar he didn’t lose his cool and remain composed till the end and got the result he desired.
