Last Ball Victory of Green Shirts over India


In Australian summer of 2000, green shirts celebrated last ball victory over traditional rival India in CB series. Off spinner Saqlain Mushtaq along with fast bowler Waqar Younis snatched the victory from opponent on the very last ball of the match.

Earlier on green shirts bowled quite well to restrict Indian batsmen under 200 runs and gave them the chance to win the second match of the series on Australian soil. However the start of Pakistani team was not good at all and they lost 6 wickets on just 70 runs.

Then middle order batsman Muhammad Yousaf played a good knock and built a valuable partnership against India. Unfortunately he could not finish the match and lost his wicket. There was no batsman left for green shirts but the bowlers fight back.

Off spinner Saqlain Mushtaq played a vital role in achieving the victory and fast bowler Waqar Younis played a handy role along with off spinner. The match went in the last over of the match with two wickets remaining.

It turned out to be pressure game and the result of the match was decided on the last ball of the match. Green shirts sneak the victory against India and it was there second win of the series. It was one of the finest victories for Pakistan team on Australian soil.
