Afghanistan and Srilanka are in for another Group A game and as the two teams will face off in their opening game there will be plenty of action expected. Afghanistan has played some really good cricket in the qualifiers.
Afghanistan won their all three games to qualify for the main round. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, lost their game to Pakistan in the warm-ups. Also, the team is inexperienced and clearly struggling after the retirement from Jayawardene and Sangakkara.
Afghanistan has won the toss and they will bat first. The wicket looks good but once again it will remain on the slower side and as the game will progress it will become more and slower. So a good total at the start could be defended on this surface.
Before the game started head coach and batting consultant Inzamam Ul Haq was seen offering prayers alongside Afghanistan cricket team inside the stadium. This must be the first time any team would have offered prayers inside the stadium. In the past, Inzamam and his men are often seen offering their prayers on different grounds.
