Lasith Malinga gave the UAE team the same dose which they gave to the Sri Lankans in the first innings of the second game in Asia Cup. On a tough pitch, Malinga was absolutely unplayable and the most interesting part was that his slow balls were the ones which did the magic.
Mustafa went out first on the very first ball of the second innings. this is the fourth time that the Srilankans have picked up a wicket on the first ball on a t20 game and this is now a world record as well. Malinga was on fire tonight.
This ball was pitched up and came back in to hit the pads of Mustafa. The poor batsman was trying to play he ball straight despite trying to flick it on the leg side and getting some useful runs. Shahzad was the second hunt for Malinga.
This time, a slow ball was right up there. The same slow ball that loops up in the air and comes down with a very deceiving trajectory. Shahzad was new to it and hs bat went over the ball and let I hs the off stump.
The wicket fell off and Shahzad was on his way. Patel batted beautifully for his 37 but then he was bamboozled by another slow ball from Malinga in his second spell. It was a length ball more like an off-cutter and Patel hit the edge to the ball while trying to hit the ball on the leg side. Malinga took the catch himself. Naved hit Malinga in the deep on the off side and got caught.
