Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi was born on November 13, 1960 in Jatoi, District Muzaffargarh.

Family background
Married with a son and five daughters. He comes from a family background steeped in politics. His family has been active in politics from generations.

Sardar Nasrulla Khan Jatoi
His grand father Sardar Nasrulla Khan contested elections in 1946 on AIML(All India Muslim League) Ticket. He was also active in politics and challenged the powerful political forces of the past and made a name in philanthropic activities.

Sardar Nazar Muhammad Khan Jatoi
His father Sardar Nazar Muhammad Khan Jatoi was a prominent politician who elected to the Punjab Assembly for six times and was an influential political figure in the provincial and national politics.

He received his early education from his native town and then moved to Lahore for his graduation and Master degree. He completed a Masters degree in Political Science from University of the Punjab in 1988.

He is an agriculturist and businessman by profession.
